Concept Sketch 2-12-13
Here's a new piece that I finished yesterday evening. Using Photoshop and my graphics tablet I started off painting in the background colors, with the intent of creating a red-orange sky. The rock formations and misty foreground were done in what I like to refer to as "free form" painting - - just painting, very little thinking - - something akin to musical improvisation. After I free form for a while, I'll take a break and then come back to it and look at it more "academically". A refining process may or may not occur after that. I am not trying to suggest that this approach is better than the very detailed approach I take to my graphite drawings - - just different.
