Sketch Window

Are you looking to develop some thumbnail sketches?  How about working on composition?  Maybe even throw in some "life" sketching?  Here's an activity that I adapted from Creative Illustration by Andrew Loomis.  Cut a rectangle, approx 3" x 4" in a piece of cardboard.  In your sketch book draw out a dozen or more rectangles at the same size.  I used my music stand and a spring clamp to position the view finder/cardboard and then sketched what I saw through the opening while holding the sketch book in my lap.  Move around your house, go outside, look far, look close - - these are quick little sketches, not fully rendered drawings.  If you like one of the little drawings, you could then take it to the next phase.
