Last weekend the immediate Hartlage Family (me, my 3 daughters and my wife in spirit) hiked 6 mountains in three days in and around the town of Saranac Lake, NY aka The Saranac 6er Challenge. Although McKenzie Mountain is only 3,861 feet tall (and far from the tallest peak in NY) it does provide some beautiful views and challenging sections. During one stretch of the hike you gain 1,000 feet of elevation in only a half mile. This digital painting shows just a tiny portion of the 7.2 mile hike.
