Natalie Portman with color wash
After posting this drawing yesterday, I brought it into Photoshop and did a "color wash" paint over. I'm happy with how the warm and cool colors enhance the graphite under drawing without it becoming a completely digital piece.

George Clooney Composite
George, Gravity is catching up to you. Ha ha. Only kidding. I thought I would composite my drawing with one of my paintings and some of the photos I've taken.

George Clooney Final
Other than a recent drawing of a house, I haven't been doing much "finished" work in graphite. I was pleased with how smoothly this drawing came along all things considered. I've included some WIP's, but I knocked the values down a bit and left them low res so they didn't take up too much space.

Race Horse 11-15-15
The original reference photo for this drawing had a jockey and all of his racing gear (saddle, colors, bridle, etc.) on the horse. The challenge was to draw only the horse - - I think it came out ok all things considered.

Throw Back Thursday
As you can see from the date, I did this drawing in 2009. It was from a tutorial either online or from a book - - I don't remember which. I do remember being pretty happy with the end result, but I wonder if I happen to see the source material now what I would think. Oh well, all part of the learning - improving - progressing process. Your ability to "see" improves along with your ability to draw.

House Final
Pretty happy with how this turned out. I wish I was able to get a better photo of it, but the Sun was not cooperating. The value of the two trees is actually closer on the original then it appears on this copy.

House WIP2
Small update. The camera did some fish eye lens thing and threw the verticals out of plumb, but over all things are looking good so far.

House WIP
A little more than half way through a drawing of a house for a friend whose parents just put the family home up for sale. Quite a bit of layout and measuring on this one - - perspective and symmetry are time consuming, but crucial.

Car 4
The blue, yellow, and orange on the car was done with Prismacolor pencils that were then blended using a stump and mineral spirits.
Ink, watercolor pencils, and graphite pencils were used for the other areas.

Girl In Hat 2
Another quick pencil sketch. This drawing was done on the back of a piece of used copy paper. Similar hat and hair - - slightly different face - - as compared to the one posted last Thursday.
